Community Caring

Community Caring helps older adults age in place safely through volunteer support.

Community Caring connects volunteers with home-bound, isolated, and/or financially fragile seniors 55+ to help support their independence.  Individual volunteers can help with house cleaning, light home maintenance, transportation, and friendly visitation. Group volunteers can assist with yard work, home repairs, care package delivery and much more

Volunteers allow seniors to live independently with dignity in their own homes for as long as safely possible.

Studies show that older adults wish to remain independent and age in place.  These goals are challenging when you are struggling with a disability, chronic illness, dementia, limited financial means, and/or isolated from loved ones.  Our Community Caring program works to combat these obstacles so older adults can enjoy their second half of life. Our Community Caring volunteers have a passion for giving back to seniors in their communities.  All one-on-one volunteers complete thorough background screenings and interviews to ensure that they are best suited for helping older adults. Many of our volunteers are 55+ who enjoy helping those in the same life stage.

Easy way to help seniors in need

Can you imagine trying to choose between laundry soap or medication?  How about food or toilet paper? Trash bags or a bus ride?  For several of our Community Caring seniors, this is a reality they struggle with every day.

One of the easiest ways to help is by donating household/personal care goods for care packages.  These items can be challenging for older adults to buy on a fixed income. It can also be difficult to get these care items from local food pantries.  Community groups, companies, organizations, churches, etc. collect care items and deliver them to older adults in Community Caring that are in the most need.  Our Community Caring care packages can include the following items:

  • Laundry Soap (Fragrance Free)
  • Dryer Sheets (Fragrance Free)
  • Dish Soap (Fragrance Free)
  • Sponges
  • Trash Bags
  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • All-Purpose Cleaning Spray
  • All-Purpose Cleaning Wipes
  • Hand Soap (Fragrance Free)
  • Body Wash (Fragrance Free)
  • Shampoo/Conditioner (Fragrance Free)
